Your overtime pay

Regular hours
Your regular rate applies to the first 8 hours worked each day.
Daily overtime
1.5× your rate after 8 hours in a day, up to 12 hours.
Double time
2× your rate after 12 hours in a day.
Weekly overtime
1.5× your rate after 40 qualifying hours in a workweek.
How daily and weekly overtime work together
Hours already paid as daily overtime don’t count again toward weekly overtime, so no hour is paid twice.

What this means for me

At $30.00/h, an overtime hour pays $45.00. A double-time hour pays $60.00.

Estimate based on the published rules shown here. This calculation hasn’t been independently checked. Special jobs, exemptions or averaging agreements may change your pay.

How Your Pay Was Calculated

  • Regular hours are paid at your hourly rate.
  • On any workday, hours after 8 were paid at time-and-a-half, and hours after 12 at double time. All shifts on the same workday are added together.
